In his inaugural speech, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban attacked the European Union’s vision of Europe.
The leader of the election winning Fidesz party told the Hungarian parliament:
“The Union must function as an alliance of free nations and give up on its delusional nightmares of a United States of Europe.”
Orbán, who was sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time, added that his country successfully introduced a Christian democracy that guarantees freedom:
“We have replaced a shipwrecked liberal democracy with a 21st-century Christian democracy, which guarantees people’s freedom, security. It supports the traditional family model of one man and one woman, keeps anti-Semitism at bay, and gives a chance for growth.”
According to Orban, “Hungarians want a government that is worthy of their future”. He pledged to serve all Hungarians and not only the two-thirds majority that voted for him.
